At Private Plug, we don't deal in replicas. Ever. Every pair of sneakers, every garment and every watch is checked by hand before it reaches you. If something doesn't pass verification, it isn't sold. For years we've supplied major platforms and resale stores, where every piece goes through its own checks. We apply that same standard to every order from a private customer.

How we verify every piece

1. Provenance

Authenticity starts before we buy. We only work with trusted suppliers and contacts whom we know and have worked with for a long time. Before acquiring a piece, we check where it comes from. Whenever possible, we ask for the original receipt or invoice and the purchase documentation.

2. Physical inspection

We check every item by hand, unhurriedly, comparing it against verified references of the same model:

• Materials: feel, thickness, leather grain, the texture of the suede and mesh, and smell.
• Stitching: stitch density, symmetry, finishing and panel alignment.
• Silhouette: the shape of the toe box and heel, and the collar height. These traits are hard to imitate.
• Labels: the inner size tag, its typefaces, spacing and production code.
• Box: the box label, the cardboard, the print, and that the size and code match the product.
• Style code: we check that the code on the box and the one on the inner tag match the model and colourway.
• UV light: reveals guide marks, glues and inks that shouldn't be there.
• Details: insoles, logos, laces, accessories and tissue paper.

3. Watches: dedicated checks

A luxury watch calls for its own examination:

• Reference and serial number: we check that they match the box, the papers and the warranty card.
• Documentation: we review the warranty card, the invoice where there is one, and the service history.
• Box and papers: we state clearly what comes with each watch.
• Condition: we inspect the dial, hands, bezel, bracelet and clasps.
• Watchmaker inspection: where appropriate, a trusted watchmaker opens the watch and checks the movement.

4. Authenticity seal

Every verified item leaves with our authenticity seal. It's your guarantee that the piece you receive is the same one we inspected. For a return to be accepted, the seal must be intact.

We stand behind everything we sell. If an item bought from Private Plug ever turned out not to be authentic, we'd refund you in full, including shipping costs. No small print.
